I remember mirrors bright and this stifling hall,
Where my every jump would seem to come alive withal.
I dissolved into the rhythm, woven from the strings,
And my crazy dance was such a wicked, groovy thing.
But the light went out so sudden, the instrument fell still,
Fate crossed out my whole script against my will.
And behind the scenes of life, it quietly carried away
The dream I lived so truly, day by burning day.
And I wanted to dance, so wanted to dance!
To soar above the stage, embrace the dawn’s advance.
Alas, fate had another plan in store…
I came alone to a house that was no more.
Then I began to write my lines on pages thin,
And from them gently wove a melody within..
Now my movements are like letters on the page,
They hold as much of fire, warmth, and courage’s wage.
The ink has replaced shoes and the parquet floor,
From broken verses, a new stanza starts to soar.
I don’t dance with my body—I dance with the word,
And each fresh line becomes a foundation, stirred.
The beat pounds in the speakers, my voice resounds,
And the old resentment no longer wounds.
And I wanted to dance, so wanted to dance!
To soar above the stage, embrace the dawn’s advance.
Alas, fate had another plan in store…
I came alone to a house that was no more.
Then I began to write my lines on pages thin,
And from them gently wove a melody within..
And though no dancing shoes are heard to tap,
My new silhouette on the stage is so apt.
My soul takes flight when the guitar does sing,
I’ve built my world from ash and fire’s ring!
And I wanted to dance, so wanted to dance!
To soar above the stage, embrace the dawn’s advance.
Alas, fate had another plan in store…
I came alone to a house that was no more.
Then I began to write my lines on pages thin,
And from them gently wove a melody within..
